Tuesday 11th February is Safer Internet Day 2020 and to celebrate, The Walt Disney Company EMEA have worked with Childnet International to bring some helpful advice on internet safety, with the help of Mickey Mouse. The below video features Mickey giving parents and children top tips on how to stay safe online.
Disney is also supporting Safer Internet Day by handing out goody bags for all young people attending a special Safer Internet Day event, hosted in central London. The event is being attended by Government ministers, senior industry figures and charity CEO’s, who are all coming together to showcase the importance of Safer Internet Day.

Disney EMEA’s VP of Integrated marketing, Nicole Morse, said. “As a media owner, we recognise that so many children now choose digital and online experiences for their entertainment and so we are proud to support Childnet and Safer Internet Day to help teach children and families how to stay safe online. We’ve been a long-term supporter of this initiative and this year’s activities will once again help our audiences learn how to get the most enjoyment from the Internet.”
Disney is also a key sponsor of this year’s Childnet Film Competition, open now and closing on 3rd June 2020. This year’s competition is open to all UK schools and youth organisations and invites young people aged 7-18 to take on the challenge of creating a short film in response to this year’s theme, ‘We want an internet where we’re free to…’. This competition encourages young people to create videos that highlight the positive aspects of the internet. To help judge these competitions, a senior Disney executive will sit on the judging panel.
Safer Internet Day is a global campaign, originating out of the UK to raise awareness for children’s safety online, by offering advice and support to children, young people, parents and carers.
