Tuesday 9th February is #SaferInternetDay in the UK, and to celebrate, The Walt Disney Company EMEA have worked with Childnet International to bring some helpful advice on internet safety, with the help of Mickey Mouse. The below video features Mickey giving parents and children top tips on how to stay safe online.
The internet is an incredible place, where kids can have lots of fun, with so much to see, do and learn. Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to focus on online safety with them. There are lots more tips and resources here
Amy Phillips, Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR, Disney EMEA, said: “Given our increased collective reliance on the internet in the past year, there has never been a more important time to support Childnet and Safer Internet Day to help teach children and families how to stay safe online. We recognise the responsibility we have in ensuring our audiences can enjoy their time online and stay safe in the process.”.
Disney has supported Childnet International since 2014, including the Childnet Film Competition for the past two years. The film competition is open to young people (aged 7-18) based in the UK and invites them to enter the challenge to create a short film about internet safety. Each year the competition has a different theme, with last years being ‘We want an internet where we’re free to…’. Disney’s Amy Phillips was part of the judging panel for the Childnet Film Competition 2020 and you see the winning entries here. You can also keep an eye out here for the Childnet Film Competition 2021 too, which will be launching on 16th February 2021.
Safer Internet Day is a global campaign, originating out of the UK to raise awareness for children’s safety online, by offering advice and support to children, young people, parents and carers. At Disney, the internet is a wonderful place to explore, create, and innovate and the company prides itself on ensuring everyone remains safe and happy online.
