As part of celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse we invited fans to help make life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.
From 4-27 November 2018, Disney and Make-A-Wish® encouraged fans to take a photo showing off their “Mickey Mouse ears” – or any creative “ears”– and upload it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. For every public post with #ShareYourEars Disney Worldwide Services donated US $5 to Make-A-Wish (up to US $2 million) to grant more wishes.
From the 5th of November, fans were also able to get involved in the campaign at various Disney Parks, including Disneyland Paris, where there were special photo opportunities including themed photo walls created by the Walt Disney Imagineers.
Disney and Make-A-Wish® have a long-standing history together and have helped support more than 130,000 wishes since 1980.
These wishes create experiences that not only brighten lives but also help children and loved ones replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope.
Sara Hanson, Director of Charitable Programmes, EMEA said, “It’s more than just a wish. The wish experience builds emotional resilience and gives seriously ill children a chance to express and explore their dreams and ambitions. We hope that #ShareYourEars will enable Make-A-Wish® to create many more moments that matter for children and those closest to them around the world.”
Thank you for sharing your ears in celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th Anniversary! By posting your Mickey Mouse or creative “ears” with #ShareYourEars during November, you helped raise more than US $2 million for Make-A-Wish®. Your participation will help make life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.
